Widows and Orphans
The Original Focus
“Nine years ago this November, I, along with two others made a trip to Uganda, Africa. We were searching for where we might be most effective in ministering to widows and orphans in a world of poverty and is void of hope. We found ourselves in a Muslim rural village in Uganda, near the Kenyan border. We found great need such as clean drinking water, education for children, severe malnutrition among widows, and children. This became our mission. We call it “The Mandate.” For years now, we have self-funded this work ministering to our village’s obvious needs and other villages in the area. The Mandate provides water wells, children’s education, and care for widows and orphans who would be without hope if not for The Mandate. We’re grateful for friends and church families who have now joined us in this great cause for Christ! We currently support hundreds of children with education and elderly widows with food and care. We provide sanitary supplies for birthing mothers. This cuts mortality rates by half among newborns. We are also mentoring other ministries and organizations among the indigenous people of Uganda. Most importantly, there is a church where there was none. As a result we have seen many receive Christ.
